I feel like I am alive again. Like this detached world that I have been living in was finally given some sort of life. Your letter. All the guys here wait for letters like it’s the only thing from their old life they have left. The look in their eyes when they don’t get one is so sad. Then they go and and have to tell the boys that they don’t care. I was becoming one of them. But then, your letter.
Please tell the boys I didn’t just run away from all of you. Tell them daddy’s on an adventure. Hell, it probably takes a child to believe all of this anyway… Just make sure they don’t tell their friends or else everyone will think they’re crazy. Show them this train that I took from Cincinnati to Atlanta. They’ll like that.
I’m at Fort Bragg now. They’re training me to be in the “Signal Corps”. I don’t know what that means yet, but it sounds like radios, photos, documenting units, things like that. Still trying to make sense of it all.
Keep writing and let me know that you’re OK.
